Heading to Cancun or the Mayan Riviera with your family? Then you’ve likely heard about Croco Cun – A hands on reptile zoo where you get a chance to interact and touch all sorts of reptiles.
It sounds awesome, and we actually had every intention of taking our kids there – until we found out that it was $32 for adults and $22 for kids!!! WHAT?!?
For our family of 7, that puts us at well over $100 for an
experience that will last about 1.5 hours.
So, do yourself a favor, drive 5 minutes farther, and head to Toolok Kaan instead. It’s only 5 minutes farther down the road, and chances are you’ll have it all to yourself like we did. It’s more “rustic” (aka cement and chain link enclosures), but the staff were incredibly friendly and our kids got to touch (and hold) every animal that they asked about!!
Oh, and the best part was? It’s only 200 pesos for adults and 100 pesos for kids (about $10 and $5)
Check out our day there:
To get to Toolok Kaan, head south on Highway 307 out of Cancun. Take the exit for Puerto Morelos and stay alongside the highway. Take the turn for Ruta De Cenotes just before the road merges with the highway again. Head about 2 km and see a small sign for TooLok Kaan on your left.
