Little Girls Conquering BIG Mountains

“Small does not mean weak,” Patricia Ellis Herr says, and she would know.  She and her 2 daughters Alex and Sage have conquered some amazing feats with their hiking.  Both girls had summited the 48 highest peaks in New Hampshire by the age of 6.  Yes 6 years old.  Now 6 and 9 years old, both of these girls can be found on the trail almost weekly.  Whose idea was all this?  Alex came up with the idea when she was 5.  Now that’s a passionate kid!  In her new book Up: A Mother and Daughters Peakbagging Adventure, Patricia chronicles their quest to complete this goal together.

“Some people think it’s a bit odd that these young girls spend so much time hiking mountains, grown-up sized mountains, but to us that’s normal.  It’s just what we do!”  I LOVE IT!  Go girls!

Through it all, she teaches that “girls are of course strong, and big bold things are possible”.  Alex and Sage have proven that is true and are a fantastic inspiration to all girls!
